Beijing, China (October 18, 2006)—Supported and offered by TeraMage Technologies, GE-VisioWave Digital Video System once again topped winning another tender for the security project of National Convention Center located in the Beijing Olympic Park, ensuring the upcoming Olympic Games a safe environment.
Olympic security has been a major issue ever since 1972 Munich incident. As the host city of the 29th Olympiad, Beijing has been putting tremendous effort into forming a solid security infrastructure across every corner of the facilities to welcome worldwide athletes, visitors and officials. The National Convention Center, with no exception for demanding an extremely high level of safety is a key public complex for the games. Locating right inside the Olympic Park, the convention center is composed of top rated multifunctional convention venues and commercial facilities covering a total construction area of about 530,000 sqr meters.
The open, scalable and high-image-quality 3D-Wavelets compression technology based GE-VisioWave digital video surveillance platform will be supporting the security project with its 800 cameras as well as PIR alarm systems in Phase I. The project design also called for a large-scale video data storage solution for which both the GE-VisioWave enhanced centralized video servers networking the dedicated storage units and distributed embedded storage built in video encoders were top-evaluated and succeeded.
